A group of local organizations and volunteers working to help educate those who may be eligible for the new health care exchanges made available under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act announced additional enrollment session dates.
Sessions are available by appointment at various locations in Stevens Point, and without appointment at Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) in Stevens Point now through Dec. 19. The sessions are free and open to anyone needing assistance.
“It is very important that people take this opportunity to learn about their options and begin the enrollment process so that they may have coverage as early as January 1,” said Mary Patoka, President and CEO of CAP Services, one of the partner organizations. “While the on-line application process has been difficult, there are alternatives to ensure people access coverage as soon as is possible.”
Certified Assistance Counselors, or CACs, will be available to educate consumers about the health insurance exchanges and help them complete an application for coverage. Enrollment sessions generally take between 30 and 40 minutes. People need to bring a photo ID, and a social security card (for all family members who are applying for coverage). It is helpful to have their W-2 form from the previous year. Enrollment can be done on-line, by phone or by paper.
CACs, will be available through December 19, with the exception of Thanksgiving, at the times below.
