Rural Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) recently awarded a two-year $34,000 grant to CAP Services to help it build corporate capacity, attract additional investments and increase staff capacity to manage those investments.

“Rural LISC is a great partner in our mission of helping the people and families in our area get on the path to self-sufficiency,” said Mary Patoka, CAP President and CEO. “One of the initiatives supported will be the development of CAP’s ability to report to credit reporting agencies. For those who have made timely loan payments, it’s only right that CAP helps them build a strong credit history.”

The award will also help cover the wages and travel expenses of CAP staff and Board members attending Rural LISC trainings in 2016 and 2017.

LISC combines corporate, government and philanthropic resources to help nonprofit community development corporations revitalize distressed urban and rural communities. Since 1980, LISC has invested $14.7 billion to build or rehab 330,000 affordable homes and apartments and develop 53 million square feet of retail, community and educational space.
