In a time of uncertainty due to COVID-19, CAP Services continues to serve low-income people and families. CAP has heard the concerns echoed throughout our community and is taking action.

With the help of CAP Services’ community partners, including Portage County COVID-19 Relief Fund established by United Way of Portage County and the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, National Exchange Bank Foundation, and additional generous donations from the community, CAP will be providing Emergency Grants for Households located in Portage, Marquette, and Waushara counties to combat the financial difficulties brought on by COVID-19. This grant will be open for applications starting Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Applicants can fill out the application themselves in English or Spanish on our website, capservices.org/covid19fund. If needed, applicants can also call CAP for assistance in English (800-660-5430), Spanish (715-498-3195), and Hmong (715-498-4458).

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must reside in one of the participating counties, have income at or below 200% Federal Poverty Level, and have experienced a recent loss of income and/or resources due to COVID-19. Qualifying applicants will have an emergency financial need related to COVID-19, such as need for food, rent or mortgage payments, medical expenses, childcare, and other expenses.

Applicants for emergency funding can receive up to $500. Only one grant will be awarded per household. CAP’s goal is to review and respond to applications within 3 business days.

CAP Services knows that many of those we serve will be among those hardest hit by the impacts of COVID-19 disruptions and hopes that these emergency grants can assist during this ongoing situation. Fundraising continues to try to meet the needs of families in our service area. For Outagamie and Waupaca counties, CAP has resources to support current clients through a grant from the COVID-19 Community Response Fund established by the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and United Way Fox Cities, and a grant from the Thrivent Foundation.
